AMONG MY BEST TRIPS
i found BSC thanks to trip advisor & we were so happy with every aspect of our stay. this place is heavenly. adolfo, the property manager, is amazing and beyond helpful, he is perfect – somehow always around when we needed him but never overbearing. the “user’s guide” is all you will need, don’t worry about planning ahead – every recommendation was accurate and definitely call Jermaine for local seafood. We called him Monday and he showed up “between Tuesday and Wednesday” as promised. (I guessed that he meant sunset on Tues which is exactly when he appeared w/ 5 fresh lobster from our backyard..for $40! best meal ever.)
It was awesome to have groceries at the house when we arrived (Adolfo is seriously perfect) and the private beach is so beautiful. We had the cottage but someday we will be back for the entire property. The grounds are amazing, this place is perfect for any kind of trip. The stars at night are breathtaking.
As for activites, we didn’t do much. We meant to…but Nevis is very chill and we were lazy. You can play tennis at the four seasons for $35/hr but we played at the school a few times for free. The courts were fine & it was nice to not have to worry about the dress code. Nevis is super casual outside of FS.
I have traveled to a number of amazing places and this ranks amongst the best.
We had a wonderful time staying at Black Sand Cove Cottage. The gardens were amazing, always something new to see. The access to the beach was easy, and private. Such a quiet location, with a great view of the ocean from the cottage porch. The cottage itself was perfect for us, great layout, everything needed for cooking, dining, and relaxing. The house was not rented while we were there, so we also enjoyed the pool access. We were so relaxed and comfortable during our stay in Nevis, and Black Sand Cottage Cove, we certainly didn’t want to leave. The wide variety of wildlife was incredible.
Hummingbirds outside the window, lizards hanging around outside the house, and an amazing variety of other birds as well. Nevis is certainly our style, quiet, and everyone we came across was friendly and helpful. Fabulous vacation, with a wonderful stay at Black Sand Cove Cottage.
GETTING AWAY FROM EVERYTHING
We spent 5 weeks in the cottage and are itching to get back as soon as we can. We looked through lots and lots of ads for our vacation and were incredibly lucky to come across Black Sand Cove. Everything was exactly as advertised, with beautiful grounds, Adolfo’s wonderful presence, and seclusion. Our goal was to get away from everything, and many days, unless we chose otherwise, we were the only people we saw. Of course, we had to share the area with goats, donkeys, and sometimes monkeys, but they were all welcome visitors. In fact, most days we looked forward to the goat parade on the road outside the gates. We can’t wait to visit again to completely unplug and hear our thoughts again apart from the hustle of life in modern society.
NO PICTURE DOES IT JUSTICE
I wanted to take a quick minute to tell you how pleased I am with Black Sand Cottage. It is absolutely perfect for one person or a couple. It takes about 15 minutes of sitting on the porch and listening to the sounds of nature in order to completely decompress from the “real world” stresses. I mentioned to Adolfo that of all the places that I have traveled to (including Hawaii, Bermuda, Europe), Black Sand Cove ranks as one of the most (if not the most) beautiful. The grounds with all the flowering plants are exquisite and no picture does it justice. Plus, there is the added bonus of having Adolfo, who is so caring and concerned that I have a pleasant stay. He is a true gem! You have not left out one detail. I can’t thank you enough for this experience….and I still have a week left here….absolutely fantastic. Next year, I hope to rent both house and cottage, and bring my daughters and their spouses.
MY FRANGIPANI SONG
The botanical gardens of Nevis rival those at Black Sand Cove, not vice versa. The flowers, hummingbirds, palms, full moon, stars, peace and quiet combined to provide a wonderfully regenerative experience. It inspired my song in the guestbook at the cottage, “Frangipani in the Moonlight”, which has been well-received by a number of audiences. It was good to be back on Nevis and there is no place we would rather stay. It was an even better place to be while our home was being buried under 88 inches of snow this past February. Hope to be back soon.
